Stainless Steel 440B Bolts consist mainly of high carbon martensitic stainless steel, which may have about 0.9% carbon, 17% chromium, and small traces of manganese, silicon, and molybdenum. This combination provides superior hardness and wear resistance upon heat treatment. In terms of mechanics, 440B bolts have high tensile strength and sufficient toughness when tempered appropriately.
